Based in: Siargao Island
Supervises: No Plastics in Nature and Nature Based Solutions Projects
Duration: 6 months initial with potential extension depending on performance

The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines is implementing multiple projects in Siargao Islands. These include projects on renewable energy, plastic waste, livelihoods and mangroves, covering the municipalities of del Carmen, General Luna and Pilar. Given this situation, the coordinator should be flexible in terms of working arrangements, and willing to travel especially across municipalities, as well as new projects that may yet be developed.

BASIC FUNCTION

The primary responsibility of the Site Coordinator is to provide administrative and technical support to the Project Manager, and to liaise with relevant government bodies, project partners, and stakeholders to communicate and coordinate the activities and directives from the Project Manager. He/she will provide assistance to key partners and stakeholders to complement activities previously aligned to the workplan and agreed during consultations and dialogues and focus mainly in the maintenance of partnerships and involvement at the specified project sites.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Site Coordinator shall undertake the following:

General administration of the project:

  • Ensures a collaborative working relationship with and among the Project partners and acts as the primary contact point of WWF-Philippines on the project site
  • Provides administrative support to the Projects on a day-to-day basis, including the preparation of project reports and other requirements
  • Coordinates, assists and facilitates events by taking the lead in the preparation of documents, materials, and logistics for the meetings, workshops and conferences
  • Arranges and schedules meetings and appointments, as instructed by the Project Manager.
  • Facilitate meetings with partners & stakeholders and prepares documentation including the minutes of meetings
  • Makes travel arrangements including the preparation and liquidation of travel grants and vouchers o Coordinates with Admin, IT and Finance units on supplies and equipment requirements
  • Facilitates the signing of consultants’ contracts and agreements
    • With the support of the Finance and Admin units of WWF PH, assists in monitoring the financial performance of the project (in terms of funding status, budgets, financial reports, burn rate, etc.) through coordination with the finance and admin departments of the other project partners
    • Submits regular liquidation reports and progress billing with the Finance unit, and coordinates workshops, meetings, and travels of WWF staff and stakeholders for Project-related activities
Reporting:
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic work and financial plans and budgets with the Project Manager and Finance and Administrative Assistant, in consultation with Project partners
  • Assist the Project Manager in preparing reports in the form of project, financial and technical progress reports, including presentations
  • Participate in project development initiatives, in cooperation with the Project Development and Marketing units
Monitoring:
  • Assist in carrying out regular monitoring of progress according to the project plan, uses and implements monitoring and evaluation tools with measurable indicators for this purpose;
  • Ensure that reports are delivered on time; and
  • Ensure adequate quality of data gathered in the project through regular quality controls

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree is required in social development, resource management, micro-enterprise development, environmental management, or other related courses
  • One to two (1-2) years of progressively responsible work experience in conservation particularly handling Solid Waste Management Projects will be considered in lieu of educational background. Knowledge and/or understanding on conservation, natural resource management is an advantage
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Effective communicator with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Willing and be able to travel to islands and coastal communities.
  • Aside from English, preferably speaks or is conversant in the local dialect (Cebuano, Surigaonon) o A resident of Siargao Island is preferred and advantage.
