Manufacturing Team Manager

Ogden, Utah


Your Day to Day:

  • Plan, organize, direct, and monitor production personnel and lead support personnel to meet area requirements (safety, regulatory, quality, productivity, financial).
  • Plan, organize, communicate and monitor department resources to achieve effective utilization of employees, equipment, and material consistent with safety, regulatory, quality, productivity and financial requirements.
  • Assure personnel compliance to safety, regulatory, and quality requirements. Monitor personnel and area to observe unfavorable trends. Alert support personnel to discrepancies and solicit support as needed.
  • Determine task performance/skill requirements. Evaluate employee skill levels, focus training plans on deficiencies, and reinforce employee development and training.
  • Create area metrics and reports concerning activities of assigned departments.
  • Keep employees informed of area, business, and policy changes. Communicate goals and current level of group and individual performance.
  • Maintain established employee relations policies and safety/health regulations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and recommend pay increases, promotions, transfers, and other personnel actions. Interview job candidates and make hiring recommendations.
  • Retain sufficient expertise to evaluate personnel and monitor area performance. Apply analytical skills to production or equipment issues to initiate proper corrective action.
  • Participate in or lead special project assignments and perform designated roles (i.e. Incident Commander).
  • Identify and implement process improvements in assigned department

What you bring to be successful in the role:

  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent
  • 5 + years directly related experience
  • General understanding of employee relations policies, industrial standards, quality requirements and environmental/safety regulations.
  • Possesses and applies knowledge of routine safety, regulatory, quality, productivity and financial issues, acquired through cumulative experience, to resolve problems.
  • Applies planning/scheduling tools and computer skills to communicate plans and report performance.
  • Original thinking required for problem solving and some flexibility in decision making.
