RST Principle Engineer
General Job Function:
A critical role in Westinghouse is our Resident Site Teams- working side by side with our plant owners, we are the front-line support and point of contact for our customers, and the ultimate coordinators of all ongoing projects and services across our global product lines for our site. We interact daily across all levels and branches of the Westinghouse and customer organization, offering an incredibly broad exposure to nuclear topics, products and services, fostering an operating plant/customer-centric view of support, and granting opportunities to learn new skills and material every day. We provide daily consultation, manage plant optimization projects and ongoing projects, and act as Outage and Emergent Issue Managers.
The RST Principal Engineer is an internal position which will primarily support the existing Resident Site Team contracts at the Sanmen and Haiyang AP1000 operating units in Zhejiang and Shandong, China, but may also include support of additional units under construction and commissioning. This is a growth role intended to increase our local capabilities and teams, in advance of future CAP1000 projects and site teams within China. The Principal Engineer will shadow and support the existing site teams and take on additional roles and responsibilities as assigned as they mature in role.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the Sanmen and Haiyang RST in coordination of existing projects, outages, and to provide timely emergent issue resolution.
- Key competencies of this position include teamwork, communication, delivering customer success, and driving for results.
- Act as direct link to global Westinghouse engineering teams for resolution of plant technical issues.
- Provide Westinghouse technical expertise to address:
- emergent issue resolution
- planned plant modifications and design optimizations
- Plant licensing and Technical Specification issues
- Justifications for Continued Operation (JCO) and Reasonable Assurance of Safe Operation (RASO)
- operation and refueling outage support.
- disposition of site changes, material substitution, operational issues, and other site needs.
- Assist in the review and development of Technical Descriptions for Offers and Contracts related to Opportunities
- Provide project oversight and technical advice
- Work closely with the WEC Global Engineering Services (GES) team to ensure timely and effective support is conducted in accordance with Westinghouse policies and procedures
- Interface between Westinghouse (on-shore and off-shore) and the customer.

Education: Bachelor’s or Master of Science degrees in engineering or related field.
Years of Experience: At least 5-10 years of related experience in the Nuclear Industry, engineering or product management and exposure to marketing principles and processes.
Skills & Competencies:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Previous experience with operating nuclear power plants (for example: Systems Engineer, Subject Matter Expert, or RO/SRO Certification) strongly preferred
- Significant customer-facing experience.
- Travel Requirements: (50% or greater travel)
- Position requires unescorted access status for nuclear plant sites
- Has a working knowledge and experience with human performance tools, with a strong safety focus.
- Bilingual (Chinese and English) are preferred to ensure effective communication with all parties.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with the customer and Westinghouse personnel at all levels.
