Nuclear Design Engineering Intern - 2025 INTERNSHIP

Burlington or Peterborough, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid working arrangement of up to 3 days per week onsite)


About the Opportunity


Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada. The successful candidate will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions.


The Intern will have the opportunity to work on the eVinci microreactor program and experience analyzing and designing for various aspects of the eVinci and AstroVinci reactor designs ranging from fuel behavior to reactor physics and thermal analysis.


What will you do?

Your day to day:

  • Exposure to nuclear, thermal, mechanical analysis and design of systems and components in relation to the reactor system
  • Exposure to reactor engineering design and analysis in neutronics, thermal-hydraulics, and/or radiation for steady state and transient conditions, including transport and Monte Carlo methods.
  • Familiarity with NRC or DOE regulations for nuclear design and accident analyses.
  • Familiarity with common and new nuclear materials and properties for modeling and design
  • Exposure to engineering design calculations, specifications, process diagrams, & procedures for the development of our advanced reactor conceptual and preliminary designs.
  • Development of test plans to validate models and parameters.
  • Identify and define technical issues and challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution.
