About the Opportunity


Westinghouse Electric Canada is a leading supplier of custom equipment, process systems and engineering consultant services for the Nuclear industry in Canada. The successful candidate will join an innovative team that supports Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions.


This position will have the opportunity to work on the eVinci microreactor program with responsibilities in analyzing and designing for various aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle from fuel fabrication, new fuel transport, operation, core life extensions, shutdown, disassembly, spent fuel transport, and final repository.


What will you do?

Your day to day:

  • Perform nuclear, thermal, mechanical analysis and design of systems and components ranging from fuel fabrication through decommissioning with a focus on fuel transport, operation, and safe repository.
  • Perform assessments of manufacturers, partners, and materials in support of integration of design, costs, and manufacturing
  • Coordinate and understand calculations in relation to thermal-hydraulics & heat rejection for steady state and transient conditions.
  • Perform engineering design calculations, specifications, process diagrams, & procedures for the development of our advanced reactor conceptual and preliminary designs.
  • Development of test plans to validate models and parameters.
  • Identify and define technical issues and challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution.
  • Bring engineering rigor to resolution of problems that are sometimes loosely- or only partially-defined, requiring knowledge and experience within given discipline.
  • Provide technical guidance and direction to and collaborate with other personnel including partners including laboratories or subcontractors.

What will you bring?

Who you are:

  • A bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field.
  • Advanced Degree preferable or minimum of 2 years of experience required
  • Experience working in a challenging or dynamic environment of applied R&D, startup, or new product development is preferred (with relevance of testing and experiments).
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency in using LINUX (capable of running jobs using super-computers) and proficiency in computer programming/coding.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks and perform tasks under pressure
