Duty Manager

Salary: £9,995 (pro rata) per annum(£24,988 FTE)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 14 hours per week. Worked as 2 days per week, on a 3-week rota basis, to include one weekend and occasional bank holidays. Ad hoc additional hours may also be available.

Based: College Lake, Tring.

The Duty Manager will support the vision by providing a positive experience to visitors of College Lake and increasing the engagement of people with nature.

College Lake Visitor centre provides information and learning on the reserve’s history, conservation activities and wildlife, guided walks, a café and shop. Activities are supported by a team of Volunteers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Providing a positive experience for visitors to the centre
  • Promoting and engendering excellent customer service and handling issues in a professional manner
  • Opening and closing the centre
  • Coordinating staff and volunteers during the shift to adapt and respond to changing circumstances as required
  • Helping ensure the centre is kept up to the high standards of tidiness and cleanliness required

What we’re looking for

  • Ability to deal with the public, and volunteers in a friendly and professional manner in a variety of situations
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to handle cash accurately
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to complete Level 2 Food Safety certification, First Aid at work and Fire Marshal training
