TNC-The Nature Conservancy Centre (TNCC) is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organisation registered in India under Section 8 of The Companies Act, 2013. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Field Officer is responsible for anchoring TNCC’s ground-level projects in eastern Madhya Pradesh, and is expected to provide both technical and project management support to these projects. This includes projects related to the conservation and management of elephants, as well as work components related to habitat restoration (including riparian areas), freshwater conservation, and agroforestry. The Field Officer will ensure effective implementation of activities and completion of outputs (both directly and in collaboration with implementation partners) per the logical framework of each project. The Field Officer will also build and maintain relationships with all relevant stakeholders in the landscape, and ensure appropriate coordination and alignment with key governmental functionaries. The incumbent will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team that works on various aspects of landscape conservation, and contribute to the overall programme. The position is based in eastern Madya Pradesh (specific location negotiable) and reports to the Forestry & Land Use Manager. This is a three-year position with possibility for renewal subject to performance and management decision.


RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

The incumbent will undertake the following functions, in collaboration with the project manager and within the overall project mandate:

  • Provide technical inputs (related to planning and implementation) for the projects operational in the region, within the overall scope of the project logframe (including adaptive management as required);
  • Anchor project management at the field level, including budget management; monitoring and delivery of outputs; coordinating with implementing partners and consultants; and reporting to internal and external audiences; and,
  • Maintain stakeholder relationships, including coordination with governmental agencies, collaboration with implementing partners and working with local communities.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in ecology, conservation, or forestry, with at least 5 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field;
  • Expertise in conservation, restoration, and management of natural resources.
  • Hands-on experience in Central India’s ecosystems.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with governmental agencies, partner organizations, and local communities
  • Proficiency in spoken and written Hindi and English.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Masters degree in ecology, conservation, or forestry;
  • A learning mindset, with willingness and flexibility to take up challenges and grow;
  • Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems, MS Excel (including the ability to conduct simple data analysis);
  • Competence in both technical and non-technical writing skills; and,
  • Multi-lingual and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
