YOUR POSITION WITH TNC


The Nature Conservancy in New Hampshire’s philanthropy program is a dynamic team of relationship builders who develop and implement major gift fundraising strategies to advance conservation within New Hampshire and beyond. The Development Coordinator is a team player who works as an essential part of the philanthropy program by completing a variety of activities in support of advancing fundraising strategies. Responsibilities include gift processing, event coordination, donor stewardship and providing a wide range of administration and program support, including direct administrative support to the Director of Philanthropy. The Coordinator will also help the philanthropy program build the strategy to bring diversity, equity, inclusion and justice into department operations to diversify our donor base to complete equitable conservation work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


The Development Coordinator works with New Hampshire’s development team to meet strategic fundraising goals by providing support in various ways, including ensuring donor intent is met by processing and recording gifts, managing the donor acknowledgment process, assisting donors in gift-making, asset transfers and/or providing program information, as well as planning logistics of meetings for staff and special events for prospects and donors. They use the available fundraising management system to produce donor lists and reports, perform analysis and research, track prospects and donors and make necessary updates to accounts. They will manage, track and report on key data related to the team scope and priorities and provide guidance to chapter staff on use and/or processing of data. The Coordinator will work closely with various teams to maintain clear communication and improve workflow. They will implement processes and practices to improve effectiveness based on their in-depth understanding of related policies and procedures. They will keep the philanthropy apprised of changes to Standard Operating Procedures and best practices. The Coordinator may have substantial contact with staff, donors, legal and financial professionals. They will provide other staff with information they need to make decisions and solve problems. They will perform administrative functions as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE

  • Manage gift and commitment receipting processes for the chapter ensuring accuracy and compliance with donor intent Standard Operating Procedures and FASB guidelines. Includes managing both electronic and paper donor records ensuring the correct security procedures and retention guidelines are met.
  • Work with fundraising and finance staff to obtain appropriate donor gift documentation materials, complete gift research and do constituent account updates.
  • Manage the donor acknowledgment process to ensure timely gift stewardship.
  • Use The Nature Conservancy’s fundraising management system (BBCRM) to produce donor lists, enter data and perform analysis.
  • Coordinate and execute logistics for strategic events to build major donor pipeline.
  • Responsible for understanding the most up to date Standard Operating Procedures and best practices and informing and/or training philanthropy team about changes.
  • Maintain a strong peer network across The Conservancy to improve systems and processes.
  • Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
  • Act independently on assigned tasks and exercise independent judgment based on analysis and experience.
  • Coordinate projects with several variables, work within a defined timeline and budget.
  • Ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS requirements).
  • Work within scope of program’s strategic goals.
  • Does not supervise any staff, but may supervise volunteers, interns, or temporary staff.
  • Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.
  • Financial responsibility may include working within a budget, purchasing, processing invoices, contracting with vendors, and assisting with budget tracking.
  • Refers difficult questions and unusual problems to supervisor.
  • Serve as a team member for assigned projects.
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1-year experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Experience managing diverse activities to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people.
  • Valid Driver’s License

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Ability to analyze information for the purpose of preparing reports, coordinating efforts and solving problems.
  • Ability to implement processes and strategic program goals. Experience in building relationships with staff, customers or similar.
  • Ability to generate reports and interpreting data.
  • Ability to work across teams.
  • Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to write and edit written materials for use with donors, members, and special events.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles & practices.
  • Experience working with databases, including managing and tracking data.
  • Knowledge of current trends in the specific field.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
