What to Expect

Tesla's in-house Lithium Refinery is located in the greater Corpus Christi area of Texas. This investment is critical to our mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy and represents our efforts to aggressively increase the supply of battery-grade lithium hydroxide available in North America.

We are seeking a Certified Combo Pipe Welder/Pipefitter to help further our mission. As a Certified Combo Pipe Welder/Pipefitter, you will interface closely with the Project and Operations teams to support construction and commissioning jobs, while also supporting field repairs and custom fabrication activities as we transition into the core maintenance & reliability organization post startup. In support of this 24/7 operation, you will be periodically on-call, and may be required to occasionally work nights and weekends. Competitive pay rate selected based on relevant experience; overtime available as driven by business need.


What You'll Do
  • Perform x-ray quality welding in all positions using SMAW and GTAW processes on super duplex stainless steel 2205/2507 and carbon steel from sch 10 to sch 160
  • Read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create or repair equipment and products
  • Design and build basic and/or complex structures, supports, or framework in the execution of daily tasks. Work with Engineers and Specialist throughout the design and ultimately fabrication of custom components
  • Cutting various alloys using oxy/acetylene torch and plasma arc processes
  • Utilize handheld tools such as a handheld screw gun, drill gun, and grinders to operate calipers, weld gauges, tape measures, and other welding hand tools
  • Create specific weldment set-ups and fixturing to meet geometric requirements
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required (Fitting, installing, bolting pipe & valves. Rigging and assisting other crafts as needed)

What You'll Bring
  • 10+ years’ experience as a Certified Welder in the Petrochemical, Refinery, or related field
  • Ability to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 100ft). Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to read and understand WPS
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently
  • Must be physically able to carry up to 50lbs of tools and/or material
  • Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
