What to Expect
The Low Voltage Hardware team designs the electrical “nervous system” of Tesla products. Our circuit boards control hundreds of devices (motors, sensors, LEDs, etc) across all electrical systems (seats, doors, HVAC, powertrain, safety, chassis, lighting, etc) in Tesla vehicles & robots.
What You’ll Do
  • Start-to-finish hardware ownership: Specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematic, layout supervision, manufacturing, bringup, and validation of circuit boards.
  • Collaborate with PCB layout, firmware, mechanical, program management, and validation teams
  • Thoroughly document design requirements, calculations, validation results, etc
  • Rapidly iterate as design requirements and product features mature over time

What You’ll Bring
  • Circuit board design (Altium preferred)
  • Strong understanding of analog & digital circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers, SPI, I2C, component selection, power dissipation, etc)
  • Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to tackle open-ended challenges using first-principles
  • Proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, electronic loads, etc)
  • Experience shipping high-volume circuit boards
  • Basic programming ability (Python preferred)
  • Knowledge of automotive design requirements
  • Design for autonomous vehicles (fail-safe redundancy)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

Expected Compensation

$84,000 - $300,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
