What to Expect
The Tesla Design team is responsible for the user interface of all vehicles, energy products, and apps. As a Frontend Engineer on the Design, you will work closely with both the Design and Engineering team to bring design concepts to life in all of our products. You will develop UI components that will be reused through the entire UI ecosystem and help shape the future of Tesla’s user interfaces. You will help develop new features in a variety of exciting areas of our UI including Autopilot, navigation, entertainment, games and more.

What You’ll Do
  • Apply knowledge of UI design and software engineering to develop new user interfaces and interaction models in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, React and Svelte
  • Create and make decisions that implement a design language consistent throughout the Tesla UI platform (in-car, mobile, etc.)
  • Act as bridge between design and development to ensure the visual and interaction quality of the product
  • Analyze and interpret recommendations from other business groups in order to prioritize functions and develop a project roadmap with project managers
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, software engineers, and product managers to design and implement features that improve the user experience
  • Create and make decisions that implement a design language consistent throughout the Tesla UI platform (in-car, mobile, etc.)
  • Optimize web applications for maximum speed and scalability
What You’ll Bring
  • Deep experience in interaction prototyping for different form factors and interfaces
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, such as JavaScript/HTML/CSS, WebGL (Three.JS), React, Svelte or UIML
  • Expert knowledge of component-based frameworks like SvelteJS, ReactJS, AngularJS, or similar
  • Experience shipping products to millions of users
  • Experience building foundational layout and typographic systems to be used across the team
  • Experience developing for real-time 3D with ThreeJS or game engines like Godot, Unity and Unreal Engine is a bonus

Expected Compensation

$91,200 - $319,200/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
