What to Expect

The Factory Software team is at the forefront of building a highly reliable and distributed computing environment for the manufacturing world at Tesla. This team is responsible for building scalable software solutions for Tesla’s future products and to enable our manufacturing operations to grow at ludicrous speeds.

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Front-End Software Engineer to join our team's mission in building the next generation in-house computer vision and machine learning platform for all manufacturing and supply chain needs. You will collaborate globally with Engineers, product owners and end users. You will need strong software engineering skills, excellent interpersonal communication, experience in leading technical designs and bringing solutions from development to production.


What You'll Do
  • Apply knowledge of UI design and software engineering to develop new user interfaces and interaction models in Typescript, React and NextJs

  • Create and make decisions that implement a design language consistent throughout Tesla

  • Develop software solutions for highly available/mission critical software integrated into enterprise systems

  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers, software engineers, and product managers to design and implement features that improve the user experience

  • Internalize user needs and promote good usability/accessibility in every feature

  • Work with customers, product managers, QA engineers, and release engineers to own and bring your solution from development to production


What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Strong experience in building responsive web applications using React/NextJs or similar cutting-edge component-based technologies

  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks, such as JavaScript, Typescript, React, NextJs, WebGL (Three.JS)

  • Familiar with REST and GraphQL as an interface between the frontend and backend

  • Experience with visualization tools using SVG, ThreeJS or game engines is a plus

  • Experience in mobile/hybrid app development is a plus

  • Experience in end-to-end integration with backend systems is preferred

  • Experience in backend development and databases is a plus – Golang, MySQL preferred

  • Knowledge of machine learning, computer vision, or neural networks is a plus

Expected Compensation

$104,000 - $210,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
