What to Expect
Tesla Manufacturing Pilot Team is seeking an independent engineering technician for full bot testing and diagnosis. This role will be responsible for diagnosing full bot system-level issues, rapidly identifying root cause, and resolving issues, recording, and reporting to the manufacturing team. A strong technical aptitude, fast trouble-shooting capabilities, and good communication skills are needed to succeed in this role.
What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for full bot system level bring up including testing, rapid issue identification, diagnosis, and root-cause analysis across full bot sub-system such as structures, actuators, controllers, harness, sensors, firmware
  • Run firmware routines for testing and analyze CAN data/trace (using CANAPE/PCAN Explorer/EtherCat) for troubleshooting
  • Electronics and wire harness debugging via scoping, soldering, probing, etc.
  • Record system level issues and provide clear, accurate timely information feedback to engineers for long term fix solutions
  • Work with engineering team to continuously improve designs and processes
  • Perform assembly, testing, repairing, and sustaining on Tesla bot
  • Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions and perform corresponding repairs
  • Execute build plan along with engineers to meet aggressive timeline
  • Provide clear, accurate timely information feedback to engineers about build progress
  • Perform service, mechanical systems upgrades, and documentation
What You’ll Bring
  • Robotics, Mechatronics, or equivalent industry experience required
  • Experience working with various sensor types such as IMUs, loadcells, cameras, and encoders preferred
  • Experience with software developmental tools such as Python and Git preferred
  • Proficient with Linux file systems and command-line interfaces
  • Proficiency in product-level issue diagnosis and root-cause analysis
  • Hands-on experience of testing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electrical hardware system
  • Familiar with CANAPE, PCAN and PCAN Explorer tool and CAN, EtherCat protocols
  • Able to read and understand electrical schematics and engineering drawings
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends as needed to support builds

Expected Compensation

$33.60 - $65.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
