Position Summary
The Golden Gate Parks Conservancy engages at the intersection of national park sites, local communities, social justice, and climate resilience. Collaborating with partners, our staff are dedicated to enhancing public awareness and providing volunteer and educational opportunities in the parks. The Development & Membership team is looking to hire an intern who is interested in learning more about philanthropy, donor stewardship, and helping to conserve the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
The primary focus of the intern will be to work on a donor recognition inventory project, which will involve collaborating with the Membership Manager and travelling to park sites all throughout the GGNRA. The intern will also assist with membership tabling efforts, supporting the Member Hiking & Event Series which are benefit fulfillment events for our donors from April - June, and work on donor stewardship writing, and philanthropic research projects throughout the full six months.
Schedule
April 1, 2025 - September 30, 2025
Monday - Friday
The position is located at 102 Fort Mason, San Francisco with a commitment to being onsite two days per week. Due to the nature of this role, more on-site days will be required to help staff events and visit parks after school hours and on weekends.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Donor Recognition Inventory
- Collaborate with Membership Manager to identify, catalogue, and map all existing donor recognition (plaques, signage, etc.) throughout the GGNRA
- Travel to various parks in the GGNRA to photographically document the identified donor recognition sites
- Assist in creation of condition assessment report to help guide repairs and maintenance
Member Hiking & Event Series (April – June)
- Staff majority of spring events (8-14 events) alongside Development & Membership team
- Gain stewardship skills by interacting with donors during and after events
- Take attendance and assist with crowd control
- Take photos during event to be used for marketing purposes
- Enter attendee information into the Raiser's Edge database
Operational Support
- Table with Membership team at park sites or other outreach-focused events to introduce new communities to the Conservancy and increase membership
- Help Individual Giving team with donor stewardship writing and philanthropic research projects
Special Events Support
- Assist Special Events team during “all hands on deck” events, particularly with the Parks4All events series
Marginal Duties
Required Qualifications
- Passion for parks, conservation, access to outdoor spaces, and/or interest in philanthropy
- Loves the outdoors, being in nature, and learning about the historical and cultural significance of parklands
- Good communication skills
- Interest in developing public speaking, visitor engagement, and donor stewardship skills
- Detail-oriented & organized
- Energetic and self-motivated; ability to work independently once provided direction; willing to ask questions or for support
- Enthusiasm for working with a diversity of people with different backgrounds, ethnicity, races, genders, sexualities, ages, and viewpoints
- Reliable and punctual
- Intermediate computer literacy and good at learning new software
- Commitment to enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion
- High school degree or equivalent
- Some experience working face-to-face with members of the public (e.g. customer service, camp counselor, volunteer work, community outreach activities)
- Current and valid drivers' license, with strong driving skills and a clean driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite is a plus.

Compensation
- $640 Weekly Living Allowance
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
