The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, national forests, wildlife refuges, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, community green spaces, and much more across the country.


Position Description:

One Natural Resources Intern

Hours will include office, field, and backcountry natural resources management. Tasks will include: recording vegetation and soil damaged by vehicles in dunes, wetlands, and tidal flats; collecting seeds and planting native grasses and wildflowers to revegetate damaged areas; inventory and monitoring of wildlife impacted by disturbed or damaged habitat; collection and removal of trash and other debris; data entry; data analysis, report writing, and presentation of project findings; and a variety of related resource management tasks.

Hours:

Hours will vary based on scheduling. Work will generally be Monday through Friday, 8:00 - 4:30.


Living allowance: $560.00 per week

One-time relocation travel allowance: $1,100.00

Housing provided


This position qualifies for an AmeriCorps Education Award.

It is SCA’s policy that all AmeriCorps-required background checks must return cleared results prior to the position’s start; this includes being fingerprinted for the FBI check. Otherwise, the AmeriCorps award will be removed or the position’s start date will be delayed due to non-compliance.
