Role Summary:
The Security Operations Center (SOC) Operator plays a key role in Rivian’s Security Operations Center, a 24/7 operations center, which provides security monitoring, dispatch, and incident support to all Rivian facilities. As the primary point of contact for security issues and incidents that occur at the Rivian facilities, the SOC plays a key role in both operational security and facility safety. In partnership with a contingent workforce, the SOC Operator uses various technical security systems and monitoring software to detect, triage, and dispatch responders to both routine and emergency situations. Additionally, the SOC Operator provides real-time incident communications support to security leadership and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
  • Answer security-related inquiries and intake reports of security/safety issues with professionalism and calmness.
  • Monitor and operate technical security systems (access control, video management, etc.) to detect and respond to potential security issues.
  • Coordinate emergency responses to workplace violence, medical emergencies, fires, and other critical incidents.
  • Evaluate the impact of security incidents and prepare clear and concise communications to security management and other stakeholders.
  • Provide basic operational supervision of the SOC’s contingent workforce and serve as an initial escalation point for questions/guidance.
  • Assist in investigations through video surveillance reviews and access control record retrieval.
  • Assist with the creation of training materials for the team including but not limited to job aids, reference materials, and knowledge checks.
  • Positively contribute to a culture that maintains a high level of employee satisfaction and retains a skilled and motivated workforce.
  • Maintain familiarity with all SOC procedures, layouts of covered facilities, security programs and associated policies.
  • Ability to work 3rd shift - 10:00pm-6:30am (initial training to take place during standard business hours).
Qualifications:
  • Integrity and professionalism.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a Security Operations Center, Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), watch center, or similar environment.
  • Associate’s degree preferred, security, law enforcement, emergency services, or military experience beneficial.
  • Ability to accurately type a minimum of 40 words per minute and successfully pass pre-hire skills assessment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work independently.
  • Positive attitude with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable using radio and mass-notification systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 or Google Workspace.
  • Problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to interact effectively across all organizational levels.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
