Role Summary:
In this position you will be executing hardware test and validation plans to ensure the performance, durability, and reliability of electric motor & lube systems. This role entails designing test setups, conducting tests, detailed data analysis & report generation. You will be part of Electric Power Conversion group located at Carson, California facility.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop test plans & procedures. Conduct tests as needed to evaluate hardware meeting acceptance criteria
  • Design & Build test setup hardware (Fixtures, Test panels, wiring harness, instrumentation, etc.). Collect and analyze test data. Use data analysis tools, document results and generate test reports
  • Independently resolve test integration issues, quickly debug electronic signals, mechanical motion systems (motors, gear boxes, inverters, loggers, DAQs, controllers, etc.)
  • Design test fixtures & test setup in both 3D & 2D CAD, identify required test equipment or internal/external resources to support testing activities
  • Create motor and sub-component requirements, DFMEA, DVP&R and testing specifications
  • Hands-on experience with Mechanical & Electrical lab tools & lab equipment
  • Support product Engineering Team in root cause analysis of product failures
  • Ensure timely completion of test project deliverables including hardware, required equipment, data collection & analyses and other documentations as required
Qualifications:
  • Minimum B.S Electrical and/ or Mechanical Engineering degree with 4+ years or Master with 2+ years of experience related to test and validation, preferably focus in Motor & Electric drive train or E-axle
  • Hands on experience with NI Veristand, Lab View, or Proficiency with similar test/validation software
  • Strong problem-solving skills & Experience with Electrical, Mechanical Hardware trouble shooting
  • Experience with Test control & Data acquisition systems, build test panels & Calibrate instrumentation
  • Strong in statistical and data analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of automotive SAE & ISO regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge in GD&T & basic understanding of Catia V6
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously
Pay Disclosure:
Salary Range California-Based Applicants: $98,500 - $123,100 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental, and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is adequate on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
