Process Engineer
Proposed Salary Range: $58,000 - $65,000
Work Location: Onsite (No Remote)
Coordinates process improvement projects (quality, efficiency, safety, ergonomics, etc.) and cost reduction projects (defect reduction, labor savings, spare parts usage, etc.) and facilitates their implementation. Monitors spare parts usage for excessive wear. Maintains control of technical document system for process machinery. Coordinates with appropriate resources to implement improvements. Provides advice to departments regarding maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of technical manuals/drawings for process machinery.
- Participates in monthly manufacturing and quality review meetings, in order to identify processes or machines that need improvement
- A key member of the weekly TQI meeting and provides technical guidance and leadership.
- Provides or assist in providing technical training.
- Serves as a technical resource for spare parts purchase.
- Supports manufacturing processes with process troubleshooting ideas through logical thinking and sound engineering practices.
- Responsible for qualifying new or modified process equipment.
- Is used to assist with material qualifications.
- Delegates projects to the machinery department (ET’s/ Machinist) and follows up to verify desirable results.
- Collects and presents data for projects to quantify their validity
- Coordinates with parent company regarding process changes.
- Read, understand, and adhere to safety and environmental protection procedures and work instructions.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year College or University (Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Major preferred); with a minimum of one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May be requested to directly supervise employees in the manufacturing and/or machinery department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities could include interviewing, hiring, and training employee; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
