Sr. Materials Industrialization Engineer, Raw Materials (Steel/Aluminum)
We are currently seeking a motivated Sr. Materials Engineer with focus on Steel and Aluminum raw materials (Sheet Metal) to contribute, promote and drive best-in-class product quality through the various stages of product development process. This is a high-performance role that would have significant visibility to both within and outside the organization, and will require technical expertise, passion, interpersonal skills to collaborate and influence outcomes, work through complexity and fast- paced environment, and establishing credibility with peers and senior management.
You Will:
- Responsible for leading qualification, development, and continuous improvement activities for Steel and Aluminum mills and processors
- Collaborate in DFMEA, DVPR, DFQ/DFM reviews and validation as raw materials stake holder
- Strategize, coordinate, guide, and execute industrialization activities related to Raw Materials.
- Ownership and leading the Lucid Qualification Process (LQP) for Raw Materials
- Provide insight into future obstacles and chances for streamlining processes; suggest strategies for innovative and cost-efficient solutions.
- Accelerating the adoption of new materials and processes within the vehicle programs timing
- Responsible for conducting global supplier audits to track their technical capability in delivering best in market materials.
- Supporting supplier industrialization engineering team in launch readiness activities for new products and change implementations.
- Partner closely with the supply chain, engineering, production, and other stake holders on root cause investigating materials-related issues and continuous improvement with the suppliers
You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related degree required. Advanced degrees preferred.
- 5 years of industrial experience in Steel/ Aluminum manufacturing or processing environment. Automotive industry experience is preferred.
- Solid understanding of steel and aluminum alloys processing, microstructure-property relationship and testing methods.
- Solid understanding of statistical process control, data driven decision making.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and strong ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Ability and desire to work in high-paced work environment is highly valued.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the work schedule.
This is a full-time Monday-Friday onsite role at our new office in Southfield, Michigan. No Remote or Hybrid options available.
