We are currently seeking Battery Modeling Engineers, senior levels or above, to develop Multiphysics model can predict thermal and electrochemical performance. Senior level candidates with solid multi-dimensional Multiphysics battery model background, and technical specialist level candidates with broader modeling and experimental validation skill sets are both encouraged to apply.

This position requires a creative and analytical mindset with experience in modeling lithium-ion batteries. A successful candidate should be a quick learner and detailed oriented. This position will be expected to possess the ability to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.


The Role

  • Develop Multiphysics models of lithium-ion batteries under extreme operating conditions based on cell structure, electrochemistry knowledge, and test.
  • Develop multi-dimensional battery models to predict cell behavior including but not necessarily limited to heat flux, electrochemical and thermal response, and safety related performance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team to optimize cell design by predicting thermal and electrochemical performances under extreme conditions with given design space.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and maintain your model
  • Review academic papers and provide insight summary for team members
  • Work with intellectual property team to patent your inventions

Qualifications

  • MS with over 5 years of industrial experience or PhD degree in EE, ME, CS, Math, Physics, Chemistry, Materials
  • Fundamental knowledge of commercial Li-ion cell structure and electrochemical/thermal behavior
  • Experienced in creating multi-dimensional structure and run CFD models for electrochemical/thermal systems.
  • Familiar with battery testing equipment and test protocol
  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude
  • Comfortable with initiating and taking ownership of projects

Preferred

  • Experienced in CFD model package (e.g. Ansys Fluent) other than COMSOL for battery simulation
  • Experience in modeling of mechanical structure of the cylindrical or prismatic battery cell.
  • Experienced in thermal test using the battery cell/module/pack
  • Experienced in thermal runaway and propagation simulation
  • Fluency in other programming languages such as python, C, or MATLAB.

Education:

  • PhD, or Masters with 3+ years of relevant work experience, or
  • Bachelors with 5+ years of relevant work experience
