We are currently seeking a Sr. Data Scientist to be a part of a team developing new class of algorithms and architectures for Cloud Battery Management System. This position requires a strong background in state estimation and big data analysis. This opportunity involves defining the path to discover trends, patterns and hidden insights from the rich telematics data generated by electric vehicles while collaborating with the most brilliant talents in the automotive industry.
The Role:
- Develop efficient codes toward building predictive analytics from billions of time series data points
- Partner with the battery software team to develop cutting-edge algorithms for Cloud-BMS logics toward deriving SOX estimation
- Adopt advanced deep learning models and tools for data analysis and optimization
- Lead the analytical direction toward profound understanding of battery performance using cell tests, module tests and fleet data
- Draft the documents related to model and algorithm development and deliver the outcome of the projects based on the projects’ milestones
- Work closely with different stakeholder to define, prioritize, and structure cutting-edge Cloud-BMS related initiatives
Qualifications:
- MS degree with 3+ years experience or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Math, Applied Physics or related area
- Experience in dynamic modeling, deep learning, and statistical algorithm design
- Experience in developing solutions and validating them using control theories such as adaptive filtering techniques
- Strong knowledge in the data-driven predictive model development with application in the energy storage systems
- Experience in writing efficient codes to analyze large data sets using Python
- Experience with distributed computing platforms, particularly Kubernetes or the Hadoop/Spark ecosystem
- Experience with rules engine applications using distributed computing MapReduce, Spark, etc.
- Experience with developing and deploying algorithms for a production-ready recommendation, data mining or prediction systems using languages and big data platforms such as Scala, Python, Java, Spark, Presto, and Hive
- Strong background in mathematical modeling and data analysis
- Excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude
- Comfortable with initiating and taking ownership of the projects
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with telematics data analytics and experience in battery modeling
- Fundamental knowledge of Li-ion battery electrochemistries and degradation mechanisms
- Experience with R, MATLAB and Scala or C/C++
- Candidates with successful multidisciplinary work record or education background
Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.
- California (Bay Area) - $127,000 - $181,500
Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.
