Intern, Software Tools, Diagnostic System, Summer 2025
We are currently seeking a Software Tools, Diagnostic System intern. This position requires a passionate student with a basic understanding of processing data and automating cloud platforms. As well as a passion for EVs. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly, and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment.
Role/Responsibilities:
- Work alongside our diagnostic systems engineers and developers to build and maintain software development tools and deliverable pipelines.
- Gathering, comprehending, and documenting technical requirements to define the scope of projects.
- Collaborate closely with the team to design and create automated solutions to address gaps in the development process and flow.
- Be willing to expand into the Learnings at Lucid. Take on a variety of projects across different domain areas, including ECU reprogramming, embedded software configuration, build/test automation, and more.
- Ensure high-quality work through good requirement traceability and test coverage.
- Effectively managing and planning out tasks to meet completion targets.
- Regularly providing status updates on projects to various stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated aptitude with one or two widespread programming/scripting languages, e.g. Python, Javascript, C++
- Familiarity with common data serialization formats, e.g. JSON, XML, CSV, etc.
- Proficiency with modern software development tools such as Git/Jira/Jenkins
- A passion for automation and building out systems and pipelines from scratch
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-sufficient/motivated and able to work independently on small projects with little supervision and take on larger initiatives with cross-functional teams
Education
Field(s) of study: Computer Science, Automotive, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or related fields
- Will consider undergrads Junior level or above Pursuing Bachelor's or master's degree
- Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS, PhD)
Nice to Have:
- Previous DevOps experience a plus
- A basic understanding of automotive communication protocols (Ethernet, CAN, LIN)
- Exposure to industry-standard engineering/test tools, preferably the Vector tool suite
- Knowledge of diagnostic standards is outstanding but not strictly necessary (ISO 14229, ISO 13400, ISO 15765, SAE J2012)
Program Information:
- Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
- Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
- Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
- Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $48 to $66.
- Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
- Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
- Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
- Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
