As a Launch Maintenance Technician, you will help oversee the installation, setup, operation, and maintenance of equipment being installed in Body in White. This is a hands-on position that will require coordination between the Lucid team and our suppliers. In addition to supporting the installation and troubleshooting of new equipment you will also support the maintenance of our equipment used to build the prototype bodies. Our ideal candidate needs to be well experienced in body manufacturing equipment and possess a strong sense of drive and initiative to launch our new models. Our candidate will also possess strong communication, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills, and an acute eye for the fine details of equipment installation and prototype manufacturing. This position will require the ability to travel for extended periods of time depending on prototype build location, installation location, and supplier locations.

You Will:

  • Great determination, initiative, excitement, attitude, and drive to help develop and manufacture the companies cutting edge new vehicles
  • Mechanical knowledge and detailed troubleshooting abilities of robots, conveyors, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and low voltage electrical systems including three phase 480 volt architecture and 24 volt control power
  • Operational knowledge of various process equipment such as six axis robots, self-piercing rivet equipment, flow drill screw equipment, material dispensing equipment, and spot-welding equipment
  • Must be familiar with alignment techniques for shafts, conveyors and various other equipment
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of lifting and rigging techniques
  • Understand the major parts of a pneumatic/hydraulic cylinder and how to rebuild them
  • Understand the types and uses of valves
  • Ensure an adequate on-hand spare parts inventory or lead-time system in place to support all equipment
  • Establish, schedule, execute and document all preventive maintenance (PM) activities on responsible equipment
  • Performs commissioning of new systems and integrates into existing administrative controls
  • Able to direct activities of contractors and vendors in manageable, effective and cost-efficient manner
  • Enforce and follow all Safety rules and regulations
  • Professional, informative and responsive communication to customers and vendors
  • Strong skills with the Microsoft suite of applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, permanent or temporary to support the needs of the company

You Bring:

  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions for specialized equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement process improvements
  • A strong commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and handle pressure while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Two (2) years process equipment maintenance experience, or any equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather including working from heights
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time depending on prototype build location, installation location, and supplier locations
  • Note there is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and must be able to wear fall hazard PPE and enter confined spaces with the appropriate training

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BIW experience highly preferred
  • Strong working ability in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Robot Operation, specifically Fanuc, Kuka, and ABB
  • Allen Bradley PLC experience, specifically PLC troubleshooting
  • Atlas Copco SPR and SPS experience
  • Deprag FDS experience
  • Tox Clinching equipment experience
  • Spot and Mig welding equipment experience
  • Stanley Stud welding equipment experience
  • Mig, Stick, and Tig welding skills
