Lime is hiring an R&D Technician to join our dynamic Hardware Development team. We are seeking an organized, communicative and knowledgeable technician to help us craft the future of shared micromobility hardware. In this role, you will manage our San Francisco-based hardware lab to facilitate the team’s work concepting, prototyping, and refining future products. This is an exciting opportunity to provide hands-on support for a team in making an impact delivering sustainable, intuitive, and lasting mobility solutions at a fast-moving company.

This role is based in the SF Bay Area and is in-person at Lime’s Hardware Development Lab and Headquarters, starting as a 6-month contract with the opportunity for conversion to full-time.

What you'll do:

  • Establish efficient systems for shop management (clean up procedures, servicing logs, low-stock part management, vehicle tracking etc.)

  • Organize tools and supplies and replenish inventory for consumables

  • Purchase, receive, and organize incoming materials and prepare outgoing shipments

  • Run 3D printing machines to start jobs, replace material, and clean parts

  • Maintain our Vehicle Library, performing basic maintenance to keep demo fleet ready for testing (including assembly, charging, and firmware updates)

  • Keep up shop equipment (3DPs, mill, lathe and welders bandsaw, drill press, hand tools, etc) by performing or scheduling repairs and maintenance

  • Brainstorm improvements to shop layout, organization, and culture

  • Collaborate with designers and engineers on new designs, fabricating custom components and assemble prototypes for use on our vehicles

About you:

  • You are a curious, organized and hands-on technician, mechanic, machinist, or office administrator that likes to build things and have worked with power tools and basic shop equipment

  • You have a great work ethic, organizational skills, proactive attitude, and excellent attention to detail

  • You are a team player, eager to jump in and contribute to the team’s goals and learn new skills

  • You are able to successfully manage shared space and resources for a team

  • You are able to lift 20 pounds regularly, with occasional situations requiring lifting up to 50 pounds. Comfort with reaching, crouching, and lifting in uneven or tight spaces.

  • You are comfortable with wearing personal protective equipment when needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors or Associate degree or GED and equivalent experience#LI-HS

  • Proficient with Google Sheets, Slides, and Docs or MS Office Suite

  • Experience using 3D modeling software (eg Solidworks, Fusion360 or similar)

  • Knowledge of bike repair
