What you will do (the role)

Summary

Lightsource bp is currently seeking a full-time HSE Advisor with an electrical background to join an already established HSE team and the ability to become a strong presence and an impactful member in driving the health and safety of our employees and contractors and care for the environment for the company. This person will have the ability to interact with, and influence staff and contractors at all levels while taking a proactive approach to safety and compliance. The HSE Advisor will represent the HSE AUNZ team and the entire Lightsource bp organisation, ensuring HSE provisions are in place and the sites are following appropriate Legislation and Contractual requirements.

This role will be a standard 38-hour work week and flexible in work location (East Coast of Australia). Regular travel within Australia and New Zealand and opportunities to travel more broadly internationally.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effectively collaborate, coach, influence and communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders,
  • Conduct regular on-site HSE inspections and audits in line with agreed schedule,
  • Provide expert advice on electrical matters from a HSE perspective,
  • Actively participate in HSE design risk reviews, pre-mobilisation workshops, pre-commissioning workshops, post-construction reviews, and O&M turnover workshops with relevant stakeholders,
  • Monitor Contractor HSE compliance and highlight any deficiencies,
  • Support internal and external stakeholders in HSE related matters,
  • HSE reporting as required,
  • Always maintain a professional and proactive approach, and
  • Undertake any other reasonable tasks requested by relevant stakeholders.
  • Liaise with Safe Work representatives or other regulatory bodies on project matters as may be required.

Who we are looking for


Knowledge

  • Excellent working knowledge of Australian HSE legislation,
  • Knowledge of Australian Standards and regulations applicable to renewable generators and HV Substations.
  • Utility experience and or AS 2067 familiarity is highly desired, but not mandatory.
  • Intermediate PC skills with experience in Microsoft office products such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook,
  • Auditing and monitoring,
  • Practical and experienced in operating under a HSE management system (ISO 45001 and ISO 14001).

Qualifications

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Construction Induction Card (or willing to obtain).

Experience

  • Electrical background and experience required.
  • Contractor Management experience required.
  • Experience as a HSE professional required within a developer, utilities grade renewable energy company or construction organisation would be advantageous.
