Role Description
Form Energy’s iron-air battery storage technology is ready to leave the lab and be deployed in the field—the missing link is our ability to manufacture our battery systems at scale. To get there, we’re building factories for the 21st century, with software and data built in from the start. The Manufacturing Software Engineering team is responsible for the suite of software products that safely and efficiently runs the factory floor, orchestrates the flow of material, enables data-driven process and quality improvement, and more.
As a seasoned manufacturing systems engineer on the team, you’ll develop MES/SCADA systems in Ignition and Sepasoft alongside the development, bring-up, and scale-up of first-of-a-kind manufacturing lines. This is a unique opportunity to leverage and expand your software and manufacturing experience to make a direct impact on climate change as part of a fast-growing team.
This opportunity is based out of Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV. Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
Design, develop, deliver, and evolve MES HMI and SCADA capabilities for novel battery electrode and assembly lines
Advocate for high-quality Ignition/Sepasoft practices, and lead by example
Participate in rotating on-call shifts and on-the-floor support to ensure rapid problem-solving and efficient operations in a 24/7 factory
Collaborate with a diverse team across Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Controls, Product, and other Software Eng. teams
What you'll bring:
5+ years professional experience in software engineering
Passion for developing manufacturing software systems in Ignition, Sepasoft, and Python
A pragmatic approach to problem-solving that blends good judgment, clear communication, dependable follow-through, creative use of resources, and joy in the process
Excitement to build a factory from scratch and deploy a new class of climate tech solution
Ability to work from the Weirton, WV region (relocation available)
Helpful but not required: Controls engineering, SQL, git, AWS, experience with non-Ignition MES systems
