Role Description
We are seeking a team of Controls Engineers to join our expanding Operations Sustaining Engineering team. This team is pivotal in sustaining and enhancing the functionality of our equipment used in the manufacturing and assembly of battery components for Form Energy’s commercial products.
This role is integral to maintaining efficient production processes, responding to line-down events, and continuously improving our manufacturing systems. Your work will contribute to our mission to combat climate change by ensuring the reliability and efficiency of cutting-edge manufacturing equipment.
As the primary responder to line-down events, you will troubleshoot and resolve issues that cause production line stoppages, ensuring minimal downtime and rapid recovery.
This opportunity is based out of Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV. Relocation assistance is available.
What you'll do:
Write, and debug PLC and HMI programming with an emphasis on generating code that is organized, structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable.
Execute Form Energy control standards which focuses on Tagging Standards, OT Networks, Electrical Requirements, Instrumentation Selection, Programming and Documentation, Communication Protocols, and Device Layer modules and objects.
Coordinate and communicate between the controls team, MES team, manufacturing and engineering teams, and operations.
Deliver control systems that follow Form Energy safety policies, working closely with EHS.
Review and redline electrical, pneumatic and fluid schematics.
What you'll bring:
BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science (or equivalent)
3+ years of experience as a hands-on controls engineer.
Proficiency with electromechanical / mechatronic system design and motion control as well as process automation. With strong proficiency in Allen Bradley and Rockwell systems.
Experience developing the controls system logic for industrial equipment including, Safety PLCs, Human Machine Interface, Field bus Networks, Serial and ethernet communication between PLCs and instruments, and database systems.
Proficiency selecting and integrating hardware for industrial automation and sensing, including but not limited to appropriate circuit protectors, wire and cablings, sensors, safety hardware, PLC hardware, motor controls elements.
Proven ability to design fault-tolerant systems with error handling and recovery.
Strong technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
