Department Summary
The Information Systems & Technology Department (IS&T) serves as a key partner within the broader operations function at ClimateWorks, managing and optimizing the organization's use of technology and information to support key business objectives. The department owns the development and maintenance of the long-term roadmap for ClimateWorks’ broader systems architecture, including the ongoing development of system implementations, feature, and functionality enhancements. Other core responsibilities of the department include user support and help desk, risk management, cybersecurity, infrastructure management and network administration are core responsibilities of the IS&T department.
The Information Systems team within the IS&T Department also collaborates closely with the Global Intelligence Department, specifically the Climate Philanthropy team, to curate and maintain the systems and processes that are used to collect, store, analyze and share climate and philanthropic insight related data with internal staff and partners.
The Business Analyst, Information Systems will report to the Associate Director, Information Systems during this one-year contract position. This role sits at the intersection of the Information Systems and Climate Philanthropy teams at ClimateWorks Foundation and will be centered on evaluating, tracking, and facilitating projects within our Climate Philanthropy Salesforce instance and data visualization integration.
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Business Analysis
- Facilitate deep ongoing collaboration between ClimateWorks’ Information Systems and Climate Philanthropy teams to conduct needs assessments for current and forecasted projects
- Incorporate key information from both teams in order to identify the business objective, priority and operational impacts of new processes and features with the Salesforce platform that houses our climate philanthropy data
- Continually identify opportunities for process improvement, better user experience, adoption, and automation
- Document technical process workflows and research solutions needed for system enhancements
- Prepare user stories, acceptance criteria, process flow diagrams, and other requirement documentation needed to communicate needs and scope
Project Management
- Systematically collect, maintain, and prioritize requests across the philanthropic data landscape in collaboration with the Information Systems and Climate Philanthropy teams, as well as with external Salesforce and Tableau vendors, for the climate philanthropy Salesforce instance
- Work with stakeholders to document scope, goals, deliverables, resource requirements, and timings for key projects
- Effectively manage project scope, ensuring changes in scope are appropriately evaluated for impact and documented in project plans and schedules
- Ensure consistent flow of information to project stakeholders to support coordination across teams
- Track and report on project milestones, as agreed upon by project sponsors
- With support from project sponsors and supervisor, identify risks and capture strategies for addressing them
Required Qualifications
- Strong technology-related project management skills based on 5 years’ experience in a relevant role
- Two or more years of experience with Salesforce in a relevant role
- Two or more years of experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau
- Experience working on complex projects, preferably with a focus on data management, business systems analysis, business intelligence, and/or taxonomies.
- Ability to navigate priorities across teams and connect related workstreams
- Adept at conducting needs-analysis and evaluating business objectives and impact for effective and holistic prioritization of work
- Experience with facilitating meetings, ensuring that clear decisions and action items are communicated, agreed upon, executed upon, and documented
- Strong organizational skills
- The ability to analyze complex data structures
- Experience and comfort working in a deadline-driven professional environment
- Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills
- Adept at leading through change with the goal of improving organizational processes
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision, including working under pressure and managing shifting priorities

Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management certification or training
- Understanding of taxonomies used to categorize and classify data
- Intermediate to advanced experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau
Compensation
This position is a contract position with employment terms negotiated through the foundation’s staffing agency.
- Tier 1 (Bay Area / NYC): $49 to $53 (hourly rate)
- Tier 2(Other US): $45 to $48 (hourly rate)
Location
ClimateWorks Foundation is based in the San Francisco Financial District. This position is classified as US Flexible. Exceptional candidates can work from the SF office or from other locations, geographic differential applied to compensation based on local cost of labor.
