Machining Technician
Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. As a Machining Technician you will work with engineering and machinists to provide machined components as well as insight into machining and other adjacent manufacturing processes.
Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination.
What you'll do:
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes including but not limited to 5 axis machining centers, 8 axis turning centers and Wire EDM machines.
- Cut material, build tooling, set fixtures, prove and run programs, deburr and finish parts per programmer direction
- Be highly detail oriented and be able to record project build data.
- Use inspection tools to measure parts to tight tolerances
- Make and modify parts as necessary to support assembly rigs and prototypes with short lead times.
- Maintain equipment and well organized work areas.
- Coordinate with engineers to highlight problems and suggest areas for improvement.
What you need:
- Ability to measure with high precision tools including bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Lathe, Mill-Turn, EDM and/or 5 Axis CNC machining experience
- Conducting machine maintenance
- Detail oriented personality with solid documentation and reporting skills.
- Knowledge of power tools, pneumatic equipment, and Machine shop tools: Band saws, grinders, mill and lathe operation required.
- Knowledge of electrical hazards, including precautionary measures around High Voltage equipment and spinning machinery.
You Should Have:
- 2 years minimum machinist experience
- Great communication skills for relaying data (both verbal and written)
Bonus Qualifications:
- Experience with electric vehicle propulsion systems.
- Knowledge of G code
- 3D printing experience
Education
- High School Diploma. Other technical or vocational schools or certification are a bonus.
