Job Description


Apex is seeking a skilled Treasury Accountant to join our Accounting team. The Treasury Accountant will be primarily responsible for servicing the treasury needs of Corporate, Project, and Asset Management Accounting Department segments. This newly created position, in a dynamically growing organization, is a critical role in building the treasury management infrastructure. This position offers a hybrid work model, requiring the individual to come into the office at least 2 to 3 times per week, combining remote work flexibility with scheduled in-office presence and collaboration

Primary Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the company's cash position to meet operational needs including monitoring bank account balances and initiating transfers of money.
  • Prepare and execute cash forecasting and liquidity analysis to ensure adequate funds are available including monitoring and reporting on minimum covenants.
  • Prepare and maintain financial records and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and financial regulations.
  • Identify and assess financial risks and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Administer and manage the company's investment portfolio including reconciling and recording investment activity.
  • Maintain and update the treasury management system and banking platforms including maintaining a list of bank accounts and signers, setting up bank accounts, and corporate credit card administration.
  • Analyze and optimize cash management processes for efficiency.
  • Record deposits, receipt of money, and initiate vendor refund form.
  • Manage check signing controls
  • Payment processing support including
    • Positive Pay administration (e.g., upload issued checks, enter voids, and review exceptions)
    • ACH payment processing (e.g., create file and upload for approval)
    • ACH returns (e.g., analyze cause, record, and coordinate corrective actions)
    • Verification of third-party generated ACH bank debits
    • Verify banking information and create wire transfers for approval
    • Issue stop payments
    • Record manual checks for wire payments

Qualifications


To succeed as a Treasury Accountant at Apex Clean Energy, you’ll need to excel within the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, finance, or related field
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CTP) highly preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role for a holding company with multiple consolidating entities
  • Cash forecasting and short-term investment management
  • Strong understanding of cash management, risk analysis, and fraud prevention
  • Managing administration for multiple banking platforms
  • Experience implementing a P-Card program and/or third-party vendor payment processing
  • Familiarity with researching and documenting treasury related accounting standards for compliant financial reporting
  • Ability to learn new processes and systems quickly
  • Mid-level Excel skills, vlookup, xlookup, sumif(s), pivot tables
  • General MS 365 application skills (e.g., Teams, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent analytical and solution finding skills, with attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Customer service focus

Work Environment:

Works primarily traditional office hours in an indoor office environment. Flexible work hours allowed when work duties and business operations permit.
